Construction workers
The continued decline of logging and mining in the Sierras provides a stable supply of skilled tradespeople, many of whom work in the construction industry. Though salaries are relatively low, the potential to automate construction jobs is also low. The outlook for construction workers, then, will likely depend upon population trends in the region: Residents from other parts of California may relocate to the Sierras for a lower cost of living and drive demand for new housing and commercial construction.
