IT workers
The Sacramento Metro area is perhaps best known for the dominance of the public service and government sectors. These sectors require support from industries that have grown alongside them, including IT workers. IT workers in the region command high salaries relative to other industries and occupations, boosted partly by the growth of technology companies in and around Sacramento. Economic development initiatives that aim to continue expanding the IT industry in Sacramento will likely sustain the occupation’s growth, though it may confront the same potential for remotability seen in the Bay Area.
