OCCUPATION | SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY

Truck drivers

The growth of the warehousing industry in the San Joaquin Valley and the interstate corridors that run through the region have prompted growth in the truck driving occupations. Truck driver salaries vary widely depending on the nature of the job: Long haul routes, for example, command higher wages than local produce deliveries or similarly short driving distances. And while the current state of technology keeps the remotability and automation potential of the job very low, it remains to be seen how self-driving trucks and other developments will shape truck driving opportunities in the region.
